Beginning with a light breakfast at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, the retreat will break for lunch together around noon and be completed by 3:30 p.m.
Leadership is provided by Nina Lanctot, pastor of the Florence Brethren/Mennonite Church in Constantine, Michigan.
CREEKSIDE KIDS TIME …
Something New! The new Christian Education team would like to start something special.
During the hymn just before the sermon, kids from Kindergarten to 5th grade age are invited to a worship designed for kids and directed by Karen Eis.
This will start in February on the 1st and 3rd Sundays.
• It is planned to be a fun learning time.
• Older kids will help younger ones.
• You will sing "kid songs", and learn some of the songs we sing in church.
• The lesson will be based on the Parables of Jesus
• You will learn the story from the Bible and then "make it real" for your life today.
• There will be time to share your own joys and concerns,
• and then time for a craft.
HOOSIER NEIGHBOR…
The Hoosier Neighbor column is a small part of Creekside's hospitality. Our hospitality extends not only to our Neighbors outside of the church but to our Neighbors sitting right in front of us in worship. Hospitality is a genuine desire to know our brother and sister in Christ in a deeper way. Who are our neighbors and what do they desire for our church? We hope you enjoy the column and take the opportunity to find out more about our monthly featured Neighbor. God bless!
Jan Nicodemus
How long have you been attending Creekside?
7 months.
What is your favorite scripture or hymn?
One of my favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Life has thrown some sharp curves; some huge speed bumps; some deep valleys my way. Trusting God and not trying to figure everything out on my own has brought me some sense of comfort.
What does hospitality mean to you?
Loving from the center of who you are. Making friends with nobodies. Discovering beauty in everyone.
What do you like about Creekside church?
The warm caring spirit that is present and has been extended to me personally. The gifted musicians, the artistically designed worship centers, the committed pastoral shepherds, the dedicated congregational leaders, and each one who has offered a smile, a hug or a handshake.
What is your vision for Creekside church?
My vision for Creekside is that "We Dare to Share." Share God's love and abundant gifts to all. My prayer is that all Creeksiders would say as Isaiah said in verse 6:8 ". . . . Here am I Lord, send me."
TEAM SPIRIT…
Team Spirit is back in the swing as we move into a new year. We have one year under our belts and it was a good one. Pastor Rosanna is back from Indonesia and we are ready to go.
We won't let any grass grow under our feet as we are planning a sermon series and other spiritual activities around a new Church of the Brethren Vision. Keep your eyes and ears open as we begin to plan our activities.
Lent is right around the corner and that always brings plenty of festivities. Those plans will be under way.
Are there things that you enjoyed and would like to repeat and are there things you would like to try? We are open to new ideas and if you would like us to walk with you in a new ministry we are available to come along.
